This mornings great 'finds' at garage sales, definitely worth getting up for.
What a find! 'Barsony' hula girl.
In 1949, George Barsony arrived in Sydney from Hungary as a refugee. He married Jean Bird and in 1955 they settled into a home in Bankstown and set up a small art studio in the backyard called ‘Barsony Ceramics’. They made beautiful black lady lamps and for many years the ‘Ballerina’ with her delicate beauty was the most popular lamp of its time in the 1950's. The ‘Barsony Era’ is recognised here and internationally.
